Keith Berwick flew in to moderate and the group spent a fun afternoon watching the Cubs defeat the Astros 4-0. Dr. Jordan Kassalow, CEO and Founder of VisionSpring, has been named one of the Schwab Foundation’s Global Social Entrepreneurs of the Year for 2012. Drawn from a pool of more than 1,000 global applicants, twenty-six winners are selected in recognition of their innovative approaches and demonstrated impact. Hilde Schwab, Co-Founder and Chairperson of the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship, presented the awards during a reception at the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting of New Champions on September 11. Jordan will be joining a cohort of over 225 social entrepreneurs from more than 70 countries who have been recognized by the Schwab Foundation. Ranji H. Nagaswami, who was appointed by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg two years ago as his first chief investment adviser for pensions, left on August 21st to join Bridgewater Associates LP, the world’s biggest hedge fund. Read more about Ranji’s career move here.
On June 15 Harris Barton spearheaded the event “Salute to the Titans” in San Francisco. The event featured five quarterbacks with Bay Area ties—Joe Montana, Steve Young, Jim Plunkett, Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers—and was expected to net up to $750,000 for First Tee of San Francisco, Monterey County and Silicon Valley, as well as Champion Charities, a non-profit organization that Harris and Ronnie Lott founded.
