The Bezos Scholars Program at the Aspen Institute seeks outstanding high school juniors and educators for a powerful leadership development and scholarship opportunity to attend the 2016 Aspen Ideas Festival in Aspen, CO. Twelve high school juniors from across the US and one educator from each of their schools are selected to form Bezos Scholar teams. All Scholars receive a seven-day, all-expenses-paid scholarship to attend the Aspen Ideas Festival, held June 25 to July 1, 2016.
On the Aspen Institute campus, previous Bezos Scholars have met with:

- Retired US Supreme Court Justice The Honorable Sandra Day O’Connor
- US Secretary of Education Arne Duncan
- Musician Moby
- New York Times columnist David Brooks
In addition to attending seminars, tutorials, and roundtable discussions, Bezos Scholars are engaged in an intensive leadership curriculum to prepare for the challenge ahead: Creating sustainable local Ideas Festivals that will transform their schools and communities.
Scholars selected from the African Leadership Academy in South Africa will join US Bezos Scholars in Aspen.
