Short leads regional economic strategy initiatives in the rural Northern Forest of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and New York. He recently led development of a regional investment strategy for the Northern Border Regional Commission, and coordinated the work of the Northern Forest Investment Zone Initiative from 2009-2014.  He first came to the Center in 2003 as a Doris Duke Conservation Fellow. Earlier in his career he worked for The Nature Conservancy, first in Nebraska and then in northern California.
