Emerging Technology
Technologies like AI and facial recognition are increasingly present in our lives. Just around the corner, 5G promises to accelerate the speed of adoption. While these innovations promise greater efficiency and convenience — at the same time, they are coming online faster than society’s ability to develop norms around them. At risk is trust: trust between tech companies and government and trust between consumers and the tools upon which they increasingly depend. Developing those ethical frameworks, and driving trust, is key to progress.
The initiative brings together a wide range of doers and thinkers from law, academia, industry, and civil society to tackle pressing issues at the intersection of emerging technology and society key. The aim is to improve the design, development and governance of emerging technologies through research, dialogue, education, public policymaking and communication.
